The First Wakefield Test on the C-band Choke-mode Accelerating Structure
A full-scale prototype C-band structure for the e+elinear collider has been built in which the dipole powers are damped to suppress the long-range transverse wakefield. To verify that the damping works as expected, the C-band structure was tested in the Accelerator Structure SETup (ASSET) at SLAC. This paper presents results of the wakefield measurement with ASSET.
متن کاملX-band Crab Cavities for the Clic Beam Delivery System
The CLIC machine incorporates a 20 mrad crossing angle at the IP to aid the extraction of spent beams. In order to recover the luminosity lost through the crossing angle a crab cavity is proposed to rotate the bunches prior to collision. The crab cavity is chosen to have the same frequency as the main linac (11.9942 GHz) as a compromise between size, phase stability requirements and beam loadin...
متن کاملDetection of Beam Induced Dipole-Mode Signals in the SLC S-Band Structures*
Beam emittance dilution caused by wakefield effects is one of the important issues in the SLC linac. The detection of beam induced dipole mode signals in the C.. band range could provide a direct measure of the strength of transverse wakefield kicks the beam experiences in the accelerating structures. We investigate the applicability of these microwave signals for beam steering purposes. The RF...
متن کاملWakefield and Beam Centering Measurements of a Damped and Detuned X-band Accelerator Structure
We present wakefield measurements of a prototype Next Linear Collider (NLC) accelerator structure that was built with dipole mode damping and detuning to suppress the long-range transverse wakefield induced by a beam. In addition, we describe beam centering tests that use as a guide the dipole power coupled out of the structure for damping purposes.
متن کاملObservation of a hot high-current electron beam from a self-modulated laser wakefield accelerator.
A highly relativistic electron beam produced by a 50 TW laser-plasma accelerator has been characterized by photonuclear techniques. The beam has large divergence that increases with plasma density. The electron yield also increases with plasma density and reaches up to 4x10(11) electrons ( >10 MeV), with beam current approaching the Alfvén limit. Effective electron temperatures exceeding 8 MeV ...
